R. L. Stine was born Robert Lawrence Stine on October 8, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio. He is best known as the author of the *Goosebumps* series, a horror fiction line for children that has sold over 400 million copies worldwide in 35 languages, making it the second-best-selling book series in history. The series expanded into a media franchise with two television adaptations, video games, a comic series, and two feature films. Stine also created the teen horror series *Fear Street*, which has sold over 80 million copies and inspired its own film adaptations. His other works include *Rotten School*, *Mostly Ghostly*, *Nightmare Hour*, and *The Nightmare Room*, along with humor books for children written under the pseudonym Jovial Bob Stine.

In comics, Stine has been credited as a writer on 11 issues from 2006 to 2025, primarily for *Goosebumps* adaptations and Marvel’s *Man-Thing*. He contributed to *Just Beyond: Monstrosity* and *Just Beyond: The Horror at Happy Landing* for Free Comic Book Day, as well as *Hello Halloween*. His collaboration with Marvel on *Man-Thing by R. L. Stine* brought his signature blend of spooky, accessible horror to the character. Often called the “Stephen King of children’s literature,” Stine’s legacy lies in his ability to introduce young readers to the horror genre with humor and suspense. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to children’s literature, cementing his place as a defining voice in kid-friendly frights.
