Philippe Buchet
1962–
Philippe Buchet was born on 7 May 1962 in Juniville, Ardennes, France. He is best known as the co-creator and artist of the long-running science-fiction series *Sillage*, which he launched with writer Jean-David Morvan in the late 1990s. Before breaking into comics, Buchet worked as a freelance illustrator in Paris and Reims. His first foray into the medium was *Nomad*, also with Morvan. The pair continued their collaboration on *Wake* and, while working for the magazine *Dragon*, produced the sword-and-sorcery series *La Quête des réponses*, collected as a single album in 1998. Buchet’s style is characterized by clean, expressive linework and dynamic storytelling, well-suited to the sprawling space opera of *Sillage*. Over his career, he has contributed as artist, colorist, inker, and writer across more than 119 issues, with his most credited titles including *Sillage*, *Konvooi*, *Pandora*, *Armada*, and the *Nävis* spin-offs. His later work continued to explore the *Sillage* universe. Buchet’s legacy is firmly tied to his inventive world-building and his long-standing partnership with Morvan. He has received industry recognition for his contributions to French comics.
