Nils Egerbrandt
Nils Egerbrandt was a Swedish comic artist born on 11 May 1926 in Stockholm, who died on 4 February 2005. He began his career in the 1950s creating children’s comics, most notably *Olli*, a strip about an adventurous Eskimo boy. Egerbrandt’s most significant contribution came when he took over the long-running Swedish comic strip *91:an* from its creator, Rudolf Petersson. He worked on *91:an* for decades, continuing until his death in 2005. His style was clean and accessible, suited to the strip’s gentle humor about a bumbling soldier. Over his career, he was credited as an artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 95 issues, with his work appearing in titles such as *91:an*, *Året runt*, *91:an Karlsson* (julalbum), *Cowboy*, and *Stålmannen*. While he did not receive major international awards, his steady hand on a beloved Swedish institution made him a respected figure in Nordic comics. His legacy lies in maintaining the charm of *91:an* for a new generation of readers.
