Nancy A. Collins was born on September 10, 1959, in McGehee, Arkansas. She is best known in prose for her Sonja Blue vampire novels, but her comic book work spans three decades, beginning in 1992. After living in New Orleans during the 1980s and later in New York City and Atlanta, she settled in Macon, Georgia in 2019.

Collins brought her dark, Southern Gothic sensibility to DC’s *Swamp Thing* (vol. 2), and wrote horror crossovers like *Jason vs. Leatherface* and *Predator: Hell Come A' Walkin'*. Her original one-shot *Dhampire: Stillborn* showcased her talent for visceral, mythic horror. Among her most credited comic projects are *Red Sonja: Vulture's Circle*, *Blade Runner: Black Lotus*, and *Army of Darkness: Furious Road*, as well as adaptations of her own work, including *Sunglasses After Dark* and *Verotika*.

Active in comics from 1992 to 2022, Collins collaborated with artists who shared her taste for the grotesque and the lyrical. Her signature style blends folk horror, punk attitude, and psychological depth. She is a key figure in bringing feminist horror to both prose and sequential art, and her work has earned her a devoted readership and multiple award nominations.
