Max Cabanes, born 22 September 1947 in France, is a French illustrator and comic book author recognized for his versatility across genres and techniques. He is best known for his fantasy series *Dans les villages*, launched in 1977, and for his period pieces capturing youth culture of the 1960s and 1970s, such as *Heart-Throbs*, *Les Années pattes d'eph’*, and *Bouquet de flirts*. Cabanes’s work spans fantasy, social commentary, and detective stories, executed with equal skill in various drawing styles. In 1990, he received the Grand prix de la ville d’Angoulême, the highest honor for a French-speaking comics creator. His career includes credits as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 19 issues from 1979 to 2026, with notable contributions to *(À Suivre)*, *Fatale*, and *Contes fripons*. Cabanes remains active, continuing to produce work that reflects his broad range and enduring influence in European comics.
