Massimiliano Frezzato was an Italian comic book creator, born on 12 March 1967 in Turin. He studied at the local liceo artistico before launching his professional career in 1985. In 1990, he began the series *Margot*, collaborating with writer Jerome Charyn. Frezzato is best known for his 1996 series *I custodi del Maser* (*Keepers of the Maser*), a richly imagined work that found international success with translations in the United States, Germany, France, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, and Denmark. His artistic style drew from a range of influences, including Moebius, Enki Bilal, Tanino Liberatore, Hayao Miyazaki, and Katsuhiro Ōtomo. Beyond his comics work, he illustrated cards for *Magic: The Gathering*. Over his career, he contributed as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 33 issues, with titles such as *Der Planet ohne Erinnerung*, *USA magazine*, and various editions of *The Keepers of the Maser* in Dutch, Norwegian, and French. Frezzato passed away on 21 October 2024 at the age of 57, leaving behind a body of work admired for its imaginative world-building and meticulous detail.
