Luke Pearson
1987–
Luke Pearson was born on 12 October 1987 in the United Kingdom. He is a British illustrator and cartoonist who gained widespread recognition for creating the *Hilda* series of graphic novels, published by Nobrow Press. The adventures of the blue-haired, fearless young girl and her animal companions became the basis for the acclaimed Netflix animated series *Hilda*, which Pearson helped adapt. Earlier in his career, he worked as a storyboard artist on the Cartoon Network series *Adventure Time* during its fifth and seventh seasons.
Pearson’s work on *Hilda* is his signature achievement, with titles including *Hilda and the Stone Forest*, *Hilda and the Midnight Giant*, and *Hilda and the Black Hound* among his most credited. He typically serves as writer, artist, colorist, inker, and letterer on his books, giving them a cohesive, handcrafted feel. His style blends whimsical linework with muted, earthy colors, evoking classic European bande dessinée and Scandinavian folklore. The *Hilda* books have been translated into multiple languages and have earned Pearson a devoted readership across age groups. He continues to expand the series and remains active in comics and illustration, with his work appearing regularly from 2010 onward. His contributions to children’s comics have been recognized with several industry awards, including multiple Eisner Award nominations and wins for the *Hilda* series.
