Jim Pabian was an American animator and comic artist, born James Anthony Pabian on April 14, 1909. He passed away on July 23, 1996, at age 87. Pabian is best known for his work in both animation and comics, particularly for Dell Comics during the 1940s and 1950s. He began his career in the 1930s as an animator for Ub Iwerks, Leon Schlesinger Productions, and Harman & Ising, later moving to MGM's cartoon department. In comics, he created the syndicated daily strips *Hollywood Johnnie*, *Screen Girl*, and *Go Go Gruver*, and contributed to numerous Disney comics. His animation credits include co-writing and directing the Tom and Jerry short *The Brothers Carry-Mouse-Off* with Chuck Jones, as well as co-writing *Haunted Mouse*, both released by MGM in 1965. Pabian also served as a "graphic blandishment" artist on the 1972 Peanuts film *Snoopy Come Home*. Over his career, he was credited as artist, inker, or letterer on 13 issues between 1941 and 1991, with notable appearances in *Four Color*, *Walt Disney's Comics and Stories*, and *Animal Comics*. His legacy lies in his versatile contributions across animation and comic strips during the mid-20th century.
