Jenn Manley Lee
Jenn Manley Lee is an American cartoonist and colorist best known for her science fiction webcomic *Dicebox*, a serialized story following two women factory workers, Griffen and Molly, through a pivotal year in a spacefaring future. Born in the United States, she rose to prominence in the early 2000s as part of the burgeoning webcomic movement. *Dicebox* earned her a finalist spot for Friends of Lulu’s Kimberly Yale Award for Best New Talent in 2003 and was praised by *The Oregonian* as a cornerstone of the state’s webcomic scene. Comic scholar Scott McCloud included it on his top 20 webcomics list and cited it in his 2006 book *Making Comics* as an example of the medium’s expanding diversity. The title references the peorth rune, symbolizing hidden revelations or the role of a gamepiece. Lee’s later career focused on coloring, with credits on over a dozen issues from 2012 to 2021, including *No Mercy*, *Dark Horse Presents*, *Finder: Third World*, *Harrow County*, *My Little Pony: Friends Forever*, and *A Wrinkle in Time*. Her work remains a touchstone for independent webcomics and collaborative coloring in mainstream titles.
