Jay Stephens was born on March 22, 1971, in Canada, and is a cartoonist and animator now based in Guelph, Ontario. He is best known as the creator of the comic *Tutenstein*, which became a Discovery Kids animated series, and of Cartoon Network’s *The Secret Saturdays*. He also created the *JetCat* shorts for Nickelodeon’s *KaBlam!*. In comics, his signature works include *SIN*, *The Land of Nod*, *Atomic City Tales*, and *Jetcat Clubhouse*, and he has written and drawn for licensed properties such as *Alien*, *Star Wars*, *Felix the Cat*, and *Teen Titans*. Stephens’s style blends clean, expressive cartooning with a fondness for monsters, robots, and offbeat humor. He collaborated with Bob Weber Jr. on the short-lived daily strip *Oh, Brother!* and created the comic strips *Oddville!*, *Chick & Dee*, and *Xtra-curricular*. He also authored several drawing-instruction books for children, including *Monsters!*, *Heroes!*, and *Robots!*. Active in comics from 1992 to 2025, his catalog includes 42 issues as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer, with most credits on *Atomic City Tales*, *Dwellings*, *Sin*, *The Invisibles*, *The Land of Nod*, and *Jetcat Clubhouse*. Stephens’s later work continues to influence young cartoonists, and his legacy is marked by his seamless transition between comics and animation.
