Janet L. Hetherington was born November 19, 1955, in Toronto, Ontario. A Canadian writer and artist, she is best known for her long creative partnership with Ronn Sutton, with whom she has worked since the early 1990s at Hetherington / Sutton Studios in Ottawa. Her most visible mainstream project came in 1995, when she and Sutton designed promotional material for Canada Post's "Superhero Stamp" series, which featured homegrown comic characters such as Superman, Nelvana of the Northern Lights, Johnny Canuck, Captain Canuck, and Fleur de Lys. In 1999, she won a Prix Aurora Award for Canadian science fiction excellence for co-curating the "60 Years of Superman" exhibit.

Hetherington's own comic-book credits span 1996 to 2011, with her most frequent titles including *Elvira, Mistress of the Dark*, *Eternal Romance*, *Draculina*, and *Graphic Classics*. She worked as an artist, inker, letterer, and writer across 18 issues. Her style often embraces classic romance and horror themes, and she has contributed to the *Eternally Yours* series of illustrated romance stories. Her legacy lies in her steady, collaborative presence in Canadian comics and her role in bringing national superhero history to a wider audience through the stamp series.
