Ivo Milazzo
Ivo Milazzo was born on 20 June 1947 in Tortona, Italy, and is best known as the co-creator of the beloved European western series *Ken Parker*. He entered comics in 1971, initially drawing Tarzan stories for the French market. The following year, he teamed with writer Giancarlo Berardi—a longtime friend—to develop several characters, most notably *Ken Parker* in 1974, which became one of the most admired western comics in European history. Milazzo’s clean, expressive linework and atmospheric storytelling bear a resemblance to the style of Hugo Pratt. Over his career, he worked primarily for Sergio Bonelli Editore, contributing as artist, colorist, inker, and letterer on more than 110 issues spanning 1974 to 2021. His most frequent credits appear across *Ken Parker*, *Ken Parker - Serie Oro*, *Ken Parker Magazine*, and various special editions. Milazzo’s quiet, detailed art defined the look of the frontier, and his collaboration with Berardi produced a character that stood apart from typical cowboy fare. He received major recognition within the industry, including the prestigious Yellow Kid Award and the Gran Guinigi Prize. Milazzo’s legacy endures as a craftsman who helped elevate the western genre in Italian comics, leaving a body of work admired for its restraint and humanity.
