Hanco Kolk
1957–
Hanco Kolk, born 11 March 1957 in Den Helder, Netherlands, is a Dutch cartoonist and comics artist whose career spans from the early 1980s into the 2020s. He is best known for his long-running partnership with fellow cartoonist Peter de Wit, with whom he co-created the historical adventure series *Gilles de Geus* and the contemporary relationship comic *S1NGLE*. Kolk’s work appears across dozens of issues in Dutch publications such as *Taptoe*, *Meccano*, *Eppo Wordt Vervolgd*, *Eppo*, and *AD Magazine*, where he contributed as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer. His style is clean and expressive, suited to both swashbuckling historical yarns and sharp, observant humor. In 2016, he married author Isabelle Rosselin. Kolk’s legacy is tied to the vitality of Dutch newspaper and magazine comics, and his collaborations with de Wit remain among the most recognizable Dutch strips of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He has not been the recipient of major international awards, but his steady output and versatility have made him a respected figure in the Netherlands’ small but influential comics scene.
