Christina Z.
Christina Z is an American comics writer best known for co-creating and writing the first 39 issues of Image Comics' *Witchblade*, a supernatural action series that became a flagship title for the publisher in the late 1990s. Born in the United States, she entered comics through a background in music journalism, a field she has worked in on and off for over two decades. Her tenure on *Witchblade* established the series' tone and mythology, often collaborating with artist Michael Turner, with whom she also worked on *The Darkness* and related spin-offs. Beyond her signature work, Z made headlines in 2008 when she took over writing duties for Virgin Comics' *Shadow Hunter*, a series featuring adult film star Jenna Jameson. Her career in comics spanned from 1996 to 2002, during which she contributed to titles such as *Ripclaw*, *CreeD: Utopiate*, and the *Witchblade: Destiny's Child* miniseries. While she did not receive major industry awards, her foundational work on *Witchblade* remains a defining element of the series' early success and legacy in independent superhero comics.
