He is best known as the creator, writer, and artist of *The Red Star*, a groundbreaking comic series that debuted in 2001 through Image Comics. The series was among the first to be fully computer-generated, using 3D models to create detailed line art and cinematic, expansive scenes. Set in a world Gossett described as "Mythic Russia," the story blended Russian folklore, Soviet military history, and sorcery into a unique concept he called "Military Industrial Sorcery."

Gossett entered comics through his work as an artist and inker, contributing to titles such as *Elektra: The Hand*, *Assassin*, *King Kong: The 8th Wonder of the World*, and *Witchblade*. His most active period was from 2000 to 2006, during which he was credited on 24 issues, primarily for *The Red Star* and its annual. His signature style combined detailed linework with a cinematic approach, often collaborating with a large team to realize his ambitious vision.

Later in his career, Gossett's legacy rests on *The Red Star*, which was praised for its innovative use of digital tools and its rich, immersive worldbuilding.
