Carlos Valenti
Carlos Valenti was a French-born painter who became a foundational figure in Guatemalan modern art. Born Carlos Mauricio Valenti Perrillat on 15 November 1888 in Paris, he spent most of his career in Guatemala, where he created a body of work that is considered among the most significant in 20th-century Central American art. Despite the repressive social and political climate under the dictatorship of Manuel Estrada Cabrera, Valenti developed a distinctive style that broke with convention. He is recognized as a pioneer of modern Guatemalan art. Valenti died in Paris on 29 October 1912 at the age of 23. In our catalog, he is credited as an artist and inker on 57 issues between 1990 and 2018, with his most frequent credits appearing on *Disney's Beauty and the Beast*, *DuckTales*, *Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers*, *Simpsons Comics*, *Simpsons Comics Presents Bart Simpson*, and *Disney Adventures*.
