Byron Erickson
Byron Erickson, born February 3, 1951, in Tucson, Arizona, is an American editor and writer best known for his long stewardship of Disney comic books, particularly as the editor of Don Rosa. He began his comics career in 1983 at Another Rainbow Publishing, and when that company secured the U.S. license for Disney comics under the Gladstone Publishing imprint, Erickson became its editor. After Disney reclaimed the license, he moved to First Comics, editing a variety of titles. He then relocated to Denmark, joining Egmont (then Gutenberghus), where he served as editor, writer, editor-in-chief, and eventually creative director. His writing credits span 37 issues from 1987 to 2024, with his most frequent work appearing in *Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge*, *Donald Duck & Co*, *Walt Disney's Comics and Stories*, *Uncle Scrooge*, *Disney Masters*, and *Andrés Önd*. Erickson’s steady hand behind the scenes helped shape the modern Disney comics landscape, particularly through his collaboration with Don Rosa. He remains active in the industry, with a legacy rooted in preserving and advancing the storytelling tradition of Carl Barks’s duck universe.
