Brant Parker
Brant Julian Parker was born on August 26, 1920, in the United States, and died on April 15, 2007. He is best remembered as the artist and co-creator of the long-running comic strip *The Wizard of Id*, a medieval-themed gag strip known for its sharp political and social satire. Parker drew the strip from its 1964 debut until 1997, when his son, Jeff Parker, took over the art duties. His collaborator on the strip was writer Johnny Hart, who continued scripting the feature until his own death just eight days before Parker’s. Parker’s clean, expressive linework and knack for visual comedy gave the strip its distinctive, accessible look. His credited work in comics spans from 1969 to 1988, with collections such as *The King Is a Fink*, *The Peasants Are Revolting*, and *Remember the Golden Rule* among the most familiar. While specific awards are not recorded in the available material, his decades-long partnership with Hart produced one of the most widely syndicated strips in newspaper history. Parker’s legacy rests on his ability to blend whimsical fantasy with pointed humor, a style that influenced later generations of cartoonists.
