Allan Heinberg
Allan Heinberg (born June 29, 1967) is an American screenwriter, television producer, and comic book writer. He is best known for writing the screenplay for the 2017 film *Wonder Woman*, directed by Patty Jenkins, and for co-creating the Marvel Comics team the Young Avengers. Heinberg’s television work includes writing and producing for *The Naked Truth*, *Party of Five*, *Sex and the City*, *Gilmore Girls*, *The O.C.*, *Grey’s Anatomy*, *Looking*, and *Scandal*. He also developed and ran ABC’s *The Catch* and developed the 2022 Netflix series *The Sandman*.
In comics, Heinberg co-created the Young Avengers with artist Jim Cheung, writing the original series and its sequel *Avengers: The Children’s Crusade*. Together, they introduced characters such as Kate Bishop, Hulkling, Iron Lad, Patriot (Eli Bradley), Speed, and Wiccan. For DC Comics, he co-wrote *JLA: Crisis of Conscience* with Geoff Johns and relaunched *Wonder Woman* with artists Terry and Rachel Dodson. His comic work is characterized by a focus on character-driven superheroics and team dynamics. Heinberg’s later career has centered on television and film, with his contributions to *Wonder Woman* marking a major milestone in the character’s cinematic history.
