Zio Tibia
Zio Tibia ("Uncle Tibia") is a macabre host figure who debuted in the Italian horror comic Dylan Dog, serving as an eerie, bone-named presence suited to that series' dark, gothic atmosphere. He later appeared in horror-adjacent titles including Dario Argento presenta Profondo Rosso.
Zio Tibia crept onto the Italian comics scene in 1990, born from the darkly imaginative collaboration of Tiziano Sclavi and Claudio Castellini within the pages of the beloved horror anthology Dylan Dog — a perfect cradle for a character with a name that literally evokes bone. A creature of the Copper/Modern Age, this eerie figure has haunted the catalog across more than three decades, surfacing in titles like Dario Argento presenta Profondo Rosso and I Grandi Maestri, keeping unsettling company alongside the likes of Cugino Astragalo, Stella Holmes, and even the maestro of Italian horror cinema himself, Dario Argento. Rare in total appearances but persistent across 32 years, Zio Tibia is exactly the kind of cult oddity that rewards the dedicated collector who loves their Italian horror comics steeped in atmosphere and mystery.
