Who is Vril-Rokk?

Vril-Rokk, known as Smasher, is a member of the Imperial Guard — the elite super-powered force serving the Shi'ar Empire. He possesses the ability to absorb ambient cosmic energy, granting him superhuman strength and durability in service to the Shi'ar throne.

A stalwart of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, Vril-Rokk made his debut in the pages of The X-Men #107 in 1977, stepping onto the Bronze Age stage alongside the likes of Kallark, Gladiator, Oracle, and Smasher in one of Marvel's most celebrated cosmic arenas. Created by the legendary team of Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum, this Imperial Guard loyalist has kept remarkable company across nearly five decades, turning up in The Uncanny X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and beyond — with two of those appearances earning key-issue status among collectors. Thirty-two catalog appearances may not sound like a crowd, but for a dedicated servant of the Shi'ar Empire, it's a testament to the enduring pull of Marvel's cosmic mythology that Vril-Rokk keeps answering the call.
