Virgo
Virgo is a member of the Zodiac, Marvel's villainous criminal syndicate whose members each embody an astrological sign. Introduced alongside fellow Zodiac operatives, Virgo serves as one of the twelve themed enforcers who frequently clash with the Avengers.
Virgo made their Marvel Universe entrance in 1970's The Avengers #72, conjured by the legendary Silver Age team of Roy Thomas and Sal Buscema β a debut that immediately places this character in one of comics' most celebrated creative eras. Running a remarkable span from 1970 all the way to 2010, Virgo has kept rarefied company alongside the likes of Aquarius, Taurus, Sagittarius, Leo, and Pisces, a constellation of characters that signals exactly the kind of grand, mythologically-tinged storytelling Marvel loved in that period. With appearances across Avengers, Avengers Assemble, and even a coveted spot in the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A to Z, Virgo has earned genuine canonical standing β two of those appearances are collector-recognized key issues, no small distinction for a character with a focused presence. A compact but enduring figure in the Marvel tapestry, Virgo is a rewarding discovery for any fan who loves digging into the Silver Age roots of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
