Tongah
Tongah is a warrior of the Savage Land, the prehistoric hidden jungle beneath Antarctica. A member of the Fall People tribe, he became a trusted ally and companion to Ka-Zar, the jungle lord who protects that primeval world.
Tongah stepped onto the Marvel stage in 1970, born from the early collaboration of Gerry Conway and a young Barry Smith in the pages of Astonishing Tales — a Silver Age debut with serious creative pedigree. Over nearly three decades, this character carved out a presence across some genuinely eclectic Marvel territory, from the jungle-adventure world of Ka-Zar to the pages of Planet of the Apes, sharing panels with heavy hitters like Ka-Zar, Zabu, Spider-Man, and Victor Von Doom. With 11 catalogued appearances including a collector-recognized key issue, Tongah is exactly the kind of deep-cut Marvel figure that rewards the curious fan willing to dig into the wilder corners of the Bronze Age back issue bins.
