The Mechanic

Few characters can claim they've been rubbing elbows with Autobots since the Copper Age, but The Mechanic has done exactly that — debuting in Marvel's The Transformers #26 in 1987, courtesy of writer Bob Budiansky and artist Don Perlin, right in the thick of one of comics' most beloved licensed runs. With appearances alongside heavy hitters like Blaster, Wheeljack, Ratchet, Silverbolt, and Skydive, this human-side figure occupies a fascinating corner of the Transformers universe where flesh-and-blood characters intersect with giant robotic warfare. A modest but genuine piece of Transformers history, The Mechanic has found their way into the Transformers Compendium as well, cementing a small but real legacy in the canon — a collector's curiosity well worth tracking down.
