Who is The Great Gazoo?

The Great Gazoo is a tiny, green, helmet-wearing alien from the Flintstones animated universe, exiled to prehistoric Earth as punishment for his misdeeds. Mischievous yet well-meaning, he appears only to Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, calling them 'dum-dums.'

Few characters can claim a title series of their own while also rubbing elbows with the entire Bedrock crowd, but The Great Gazoo pulls it off with Bronze Age flair. Debuting in 1975 via Charlton Comics, this pint-sized personality shared pages with Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble, Wilma, Pebbles, and even Dino, keeping some of the most beloved prehistoric company in comics history. Remarkably, the character's presence in the catalog stretches all the way to 2012 — a nearly four-decade span that speaks to a lasting charm well beyond a single era. Turning up not only in a self-titled Charlton run but also in Mad, Gazoo proves that the right character can pop up anywhere and always feel at home.
