Who is Slim?

A lean presence in the foxholes of DC's Silver Age war comics, Slim made his debut in G.I. Combat #105 in 1964, brought to life by writer Hank Chapman and artist Jack Abel during one of the richest periods for DC's military titles. Over a handful of appearances across G.I. Combat and Our Army at War, he shares the gritty, battle-worn pages with legends of the genre like Sgt. Rock and the Stuart crew — about as distinguished a band of wartime company as DC had to offer. His run may be compact, but for collectors who love the authentic texture of Silver Age war comics, even a minor figure rubbing shoulders with those icons carries real charm.
