Rocky J. Squirrel
Rocky J. Squirrel is the flying squirrel companion of Bullwinkle the Moose, adapted from the classic Jay Ward animated television series. DC published their comic adventures beginning with Four Color #1208 in 1961.
Few animated icons have made the leap to comics with as much charm as Rocky J. Squirrel, who first touched down in the Silver Age with Four Color #1208 in 1961, brought to the page by Al Kilgore. Over a remarkable 58-year comics journey stretching all the way to 2019, this plucky little aviator has shared adventures with the likes of Bullwinkle J. Moose, the dastardly Boris Badenov, and β in one of comics' more delightful crossovers β even Superman, Clark Kent, and Perry White in the pages of Detective Comics. With two key issues among his 27 catalog appearances and a presence across publishers from Dell to American Mythology Productions, Rocky is a Silver Age treasure whose longevity speaks for itself β a beloved figure well worth tracking down for any collector with a taste for wit and whimsy.
