Ragnarok
A cybernetic clone of Thor created by Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Hank Pym during the Marvel Civil War, this artificial Asgardian was engineered to enforce the Superhuman Registration Act as a powerful deterrent against unregistered heroes.
Ragnarok crashed into Marvel's Modern Age in Fantastic Four #537 (2006), courtesy of J. Michael Straczynski and Mike McKone, and immediately made enough of an impression to rack up two key-issue appearances — no small feat for a character with a relatively focused footprint in the catalog. Most at home in the seismic crossover landscape of Civil War and Civil War Chronicles, this figure cuts through some of Marvel's most consequential storytelling alongside heavyweights like Captain America, Tony Stark, and Ms. Marvel. With appearances stretching into Avengers: The Initiative and a publishing window running through 2017, Ragnarok is a Modern Age creation worth tracking down for any collector who wants to understand the full, complex texture of Marvel's Civil War era.
