Proty
Proty is a small, amorphous shape-shifting creature from the 30th century who became a mascot-like companion to members of the Legion of Super-Heroes, particularly Chameleon Boy, whose pet Proty was known for loyal, curious antics despite having no conventional superpowers.
Debuting in the Silver Age pages of Adventure Comics in 1964, Proty is one of DC's more charmingly offbeat creations β a small, shape-shifting creature whose adventures have placed them in remarkably exalted company, sharing pages with cosmic heavyweights like Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, and Green Lantern across a span of nearly six decades. From the imaginative Silver Age through to 2021, Proty has popped up across titles as varied as Tiny Titans and Bizarro World, which tells you something wonderful about this character's range β equally at home in all-ages whimsy and stranger corners of the DC universe. Fifteen appearances may sound modest, but for a Henry Boltinoff creation with this much staying power and this caliber of co-stars, Proty is exactly the kind of delightful deep-cut that rewards the curious collector who looks beyond the marquee names.
