Who is Prime?

Prime is Malibu's flagship Ultraverse superhero — a teenager who transforms into a massively powerful adult super-being composed of living biological matter, essentially becoming a grotesque, godlike figure far beyond his young mind's control or understanding.

Born in the fertile creative ground of Malibu Comics' early-'90s boom, Prime burst onto the scene in 1993 courtesy of the powerhouse trio of Gerard Jones, Len Strazewski, and Norm Breyfogle — a debut so anticipated it warranted its own Ashcan Edition. A flagship figure of the Copper/Modern Age, Prime has kept remarkable company over the decades, sharing pages with the likes of Prototype, Hardcase, and even Marvel's own Wolverine and Logan. With appearances stretching all the way to 2024, this character has proven far more than a period curiosity — a genuine survivor from Malibu's ambitious universe-building era that any serious collector of '90s comics should have on their radar.
