Paperino
Paperino is the Italian name for Donald Duck, Disney's famously short-tempered sailor-suited duck. He navigates everyday misadventures alongside his uncle Scrooge McDuck and nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, his explosive temper and stubborn pride making him one of fiction's most endearing comic underdogs.
Few characters can claim a Golden Age debut and still be turning up in beloved Italian comics more than five decades later, but Paperino is exactly that kind of enduring icon. Launching in Topolino #13 in 1950 β brought to life by the legendary duo Bill Walsh and Floyd Gottfredson β this Mondadori mainstay has accumulated over 200 catalog appearances across publications like I Grandi Classici Disney, keeping vivid company with the likes of Qui, Quo, Qua, Zio Paperone, and Topolino himself. Three of those appearances carry key-issue status, a testament to a character whose staying power stretched from the Golden Age all the way into the 2000s. If you love the rich tradition of Italian Disney comics, Paperino is absolutely essential reading.
