Officer O'Doone

A beat cop straight out of the Golden Age, Officer O'Doone stepped onto the comics page in 1945 courtesy of creator Frank Carin, debuting in the very first issue of Georgie Comics under the Marvel banner. His brief but charming run finds him sharing panels with a lively cast — Georgie, Judy, Monty, and the Lawson family among them — the kind of neighborhood ensemble that defined Marvel's lighthearted humor titles of the mid-forties. Popping up across Georgie Comics, Joker Comics, and Nellie the Nurse Comics, he's a small but genuine piece of that postwar comedic world, a reminder of just how rich and varied the Golden Age really was.
