Mysterio
Daniel Berkhart is the second character to assume the Mysterio identity, a master of illusion and misdirection who impersonated the original Mysterio to menace Spider-Man, employing the same arsenal of holographic trickery, gas-based effects, and theatrical deception as his predecessor.
A master of misdirection born in the Bronze Age, this Mysterio made his grand entrance in The Amazing Spider-Man #141 in 1975, conjured into existence by the creative partnership of Gerry Conway and Ross Andru. Across nearly five decades of Marvel storytelling, the name Mysterio has proven to be one of comics' most enduring legacies of illusion and intrigue, and this particular incarnation keeps exceptionally compelling company β sharing pages with Spider-Man, Peter Parker, and even Otto Octavius himself. Rooted primarily in the classic Amazing Spider-Man and its companion titles, this is a character whose very existence raises the tantalizing question that defines the Mysterio mystique: in a world of smoke and mirrors, what's really real?
