Munin
Munin is Marvel's adaptation of one of Odin's two legendary ravens from Norse mythology — the embodiment of Memory. In Asgardian lore, Munin and his counterpart Huginn (Thought) serve as Odin's eyes and ears, flying across the Nine Worlds to gather knowledge for the Allfather.
Soaring out of the Bronze Age in Thor #300 (1980), Munin is one of Marvel's most mythologically resonant presences — a figure drawn straight from the rich well of Norse legend and woven into the cosmic tapestry of Asgard itself. Brought to life by the formidable creative team of Mark Gruenwald, Ralph Macchio, Keith Pollard, and Gene Day, this character has kept extraordinary company across nearly five decades, sharing pages with Thor, Odin, and Valkyrie in some of Marvel's most epic Asgardian storytelling. Though appearances are select rather than sprawling, Munin turns up in landmark runs including Donny Cates's celebrated Thor and Jane Foster: The Saga of Valkyrie, a testament to the character's enduring mythic pull. For collectors who love the deeper lore of Marvel's Norse corner, Munin is exactly the kind of discovery that makes digging through long boxes so rewarding.
