Marc Riemer
Marc Riemer is a minor Marvel villain affiliated with the Serpent Society, the mercenary organization of snake-themed criminals that frequently clashed with Captain America. He first appeared in the Captain America series during the Copper Age.
Born into the pages of Mark Gruenwald and Kieron Dwyer's Captain America #343 in 1988, Marc Riemer is a Copper Age Marvel creation whose claim to fame lies in his membership in the Serpent Society β one of the most entertainingly sinister villain collectives in the House of Ideas. His eleven catalogued appearances, spread across an impressive 37-year stretch through Captain America, Avengers Assemble, and Captain America Annual, speak to a staying power that belies a relatively modest page count, and at least one of those issues carries genuine key-issue significance for collectors. Keeping dangerous company alongside the likes of Boomslang, Rock Python, and Diamondback β and squaring off against Steve Rogers himself β Marc Riemer is exactly the kind of deep-cut Serpent Society member that rewards the dedicated reader who loves the rich, sprawling ecosystem Gruenwald built around the Star-Spangled Avenger.
