Mala
Mala is an Amazon character introduced in the same landmark 1941 issue that debuted Wonder Woman, placing her at the very foundation of DC's Amazonian mythology and among the earliest inhabitants of that world.
Few characters can claim roots as deep as Mala, who made her debut in the landmark All-Star Comics #8 in 1941 β the very same Golden Age issue that introduced the world to Wonder Woman herself, courtesy of creators Gardner Fox and Stan Asch. That's rarefied air, and it's no surprise that two of Mala's appearances carry key-issue status with collectors. Over a remarkable span stretching from 1941 all the way to 1992, Mala's story threads through the heart of DC's Amazon mythology, appearing across Wonder Woman, All-Star Comics, and Comic Cavalcade β the golden trinity of Golden Age DC publishing β sharing pages with Wonder Woman, Diana Prince, Etta Candy, and Steve Trevor. Eleven catalog appearances may sound modest, but for a character born in one of the most significant comics ever printed, Mala is a genuine piece of history worth seeking out.
