Maîtresse Mort
Maîtresse Mort is the French-language incarnation of Marvel's cosmic entity Death — the living embodiment of mortality itself. An abstract being of immense power, she is most notably the object of Thanos's devotion, and moves among Marvel's cosmic heavyweights including the Silver Surfer and Galactus.
Mysterious and evocative, Maîtresse Mort made her entrance in 1991 through the pages of Nova #156 — a French-language publication from Panini France that places her squarely in the Copper/Modern Age of comics. Her catalog footprint is small but select, with appearances stretching across more than two decades and company that reads like a cosmic who's-who: Thanos, Norrin Radd, and Galan are among the towering figures who share her pages. Five appearances, yes — but in comics, it's the caliber of the company you keep that tells the real story, and Maîtresse Mort keeps very grand company indeed.
