Johan

Johan is a young medieval knight-errant in the Franco-Belgian comics series Johan et Pirlouit, adventuring across a fantastical Middle Ages alongside his wisecracking companion Pirlouit (Peewit). Created by Peyo, the series is also notable as the debut of the Smurfs.

A product of Belgian comics' golden era, Johan made his debut in the pages of Spirou in 1952, brought to life by writer André-Paul Duchâteau under the legendary Dupuis banner. Sharing those storied pages with icons like Spirou, Fantasio, and Buck Danny speaks to the remarkable company this character kept from the very start.
