Who is Figaro?

Figaro is the small tuxedo kitten from Disney's Pinocchio (1940), originally Geppetto's beloved pet cat. He translated naturally into comics, appearing alongside Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and other Disney funny-animal stars.

Figaro made his comics debut in the Golden Age, stepping onto the page in 1946's Four Color #92 under the pen of the legendary Walt Kelly — already a remarkable credential for any character's origin story. This charming little figure from the Disney universe found a home at Western Publishing, popping up across beloved digest and anthology titles alongside some of the most iconic names in funny-animal comics: Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Daisy Duck. A presence in the catalog stretching all the way to 1984 speaks to a quiet but genuine staying power, and any character who shares pages with that particular constellation of Disney royalty is well worth a second look for Golden Age enthusiasts and Disney comics collectors alike.
