Electro
Electro is a Golden Age Marvel robot hero who debuted in 1940, a remote-controlled mechanical man built to fight crime. Predating the more famous electric-powered villain by decades, this Electro served as an early experiment in the concept of the artificial superhero.
Born in the fertile imagination of Jack Kirby and Joe Simon β two of comics' greatest architects β Electro made their debut in Marvel Mystery Comics #13 in 1940, right at the heart of the Golden Age when superheroes were still a thrilling new invention. This Marvel creation shares their vintage pages with some of the era's most iconic figures: Jim Hammond, The Sub-Mariner, and The Vision, placing Electro squarely in the company of Golden Age royalty. Decades later, The Twelve brought this nearly forgotten character back into the spotlight, and with two key-issue appearances to their name across a remarkable 72-year publishing span, Electro represents exactly the kind of deep-catalogue discovery that makes Golden Age collecting such a rewarding adventure.
