Who is Der Übermensch?

Der Übermensch was a Nazi supervillain active during World War II in the DC Universe, serving as a powerful enemy of the Allied heroes known as the Young All-Stars. A dark inversion of the superhero ideal, he represented the Third Reich's ambitions given superhuman form.

Stepping out of DC's Copper Age revival of wartime heroics, Der Übermensch made his debut in Who's Who: Update '87 — Bob Greenberger's contribution to a universe hungry to flesh out its WWII-era corners. With appearances spread across Young All-Stars and both Who's Who update volumes, this character inhabits a richly populated corner of DC history, sharing pages with the likes of Amazing-Man, Will Everett, and the valkyrie Gudra. It's a compact but evocative footprint, the kind of deep-catalog figure that rewards the dedicated collector willing to dig into late-'80s DC's passionate excavation of its Golden Age mythology.
