Crule
Crule is a savage, near-immortal mutant External — one of a small group of ancient, endlessly reincarnating mutants — whose brutal combat abilities made him a dangerous and volatile member of that secretive cabal, bringing him into conflict with X-Force.
Crule burst onto the Marvel scene in 1992 — right in the thick of the Copper Age's bold, kinetic energy — debuting in X-Force #12 courtesy of Rob Liefeld, Fabian Nicieza, and Mark Pacella. A figure lurking at the darker edges of the X-Force corner of the Marvel Universe, this menacing presence has kept genuinely compelling company over the years, sharing pages with the likes of Domino, Gideon, and Tabitha Smith. With appearances stretching across titles as varied as Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Tini Howard's Excalibur, Crule has quietly accumulated a surprisingly durable presence in Marvel's catalog across more than three decades — a testament to the staying power of those wild, ambitious early '90s creations that collectors still hunt down today.
