Count Vertigo
Count Vertigo is a DC villain who first appeared in 1981. A European nobleman with a hereditary inner-ear disorder, he uses a device implanted in his skull to project disorienting vertigo effects onto others, initially clashing with Green Arrow and Black Canary.
Spinning out of the Bronze Age in 1981's World's Finest Comics #272, Count Vertigo is one of DC's more deliciously distinctive villains, brought to life by Ted P. Skimmer and Kurt Schaffenberger. Over a remarkable span stretching across nearly five decades, he's kept genuinely dangerous company β sharing pages with Superman, Captain Boomerang, and the formidable Bronze Tiger β while becoming a recurring thorn in the side of the Green Arrow corner of the DC Universe. With three key-issue appearances to his name and a presence felt across Action Comics Weekly and Adventures of Superman, Count Vertigo is exactly the kind of deep-catalog Bronze Age find that rewards the curious collector who digs a little deeper.
