Commissioner Mike Akins

Stepping into one of comics' most thankless jobs, Commissioner Mike Akins arrived in Gotham City in 2003, brought to life by Scott Beatty and Roger Robinson in Batman: Gotham Knights #37. A Modern Age addition to DC's sprawling Gotham mythology, Akins inherited the unenviable task of keeping order in a city where the likes of the Riddler prowl the streets and Batman operates in the shadows — sharing pages with Bruce Wayne himself across Gotham Knights and Legends of the Dark Knight. His run may have been brief, but any character who gets to occupy the commissioner's chair in Gotham earns a permanent, if compact, place in Batman lore.
