Combat

Bursting onto the scene in 1994's Youngblood Strikefile #5 — courtesy of creators Eric Stephenson and Sam Liu — Combat is a product of Image Comics' bold, boundary-pushing early years, when the publisher was rewriting the rules of superhero storytelling. This Copper/Modern Age figure has proven surprisingly durable, with appearances stretching across three decades into 2025, popping up across titles like Glory, Youngblood, and Extreme Destroyer Epilogue. Along the way, Combat keeps some seriously heavy company, sharing pages with the likes of Shaft, Badrock, and other pillars of the Image universe. Not every character needs a mountain of appearances to matter — sometimes it's about running in the right circles, and Combat has done exactly that.
