Captain Dynamo

Captain Dynamo was a celebrated superhero in the Image Universe whose secret double life — including multiple affairs — came to light after his death, leaving behind five illegitimate children who each inherited a fraction of his powers and formed the superhero team Dynamo 5.

A cornerstone of Jay Faerber and Fran Bueno's corner of the Image Universe, Captain Dynamo made his entrance in 2004's Noble Causes: Extended Family #2 before becoming the beating heart of the beloved Dynamo 5 series and its follow-ups. Though his time in the catalog is relatively compact — spanning roughly 2004 to 2011 across thirteen appearances — the character clearly left a meaningful enough impression to anchor his own title, an annual, and a sequel miniseries. Sharing pages with the likes of William Warner, Gage Reinhart, Bridget Flynn, Spencer Bridges, and Hector Chang, Captain Dynamo is a Modern Age figure who proves that Image's creator-owned landscape has always had room for genuine superhero mythology built from the ground up.
