Who is Brainiac 8?

Brainiac 8, also known as Indigo, is a android from the future who descended from the original Brainiac. She arrived in the present era and became entangled with the Outsiders and Teen Titans, initially appearing as a mysterious ally to heroes like Dick Grayson and Wonder Girl.

Brainiac 8 made a striking entrance into the Modern Age DC Universe with her 2005 debut in Outsiders #19, courtesy of writer Judd Winick and artist Carlos D'Anda. Over nearly two decades she's woven through some of DC's most compelling corners, turning up across Outsiders, Teen Titans, and even the prestige pages of The Other History of the DC Universe, sharing adventures with heavy-hitters like Dick Grayson, Wonder Girl, Robin, and Kid Flash β€” not to mention the original Brainiac himself. With a name that carries serious legacy weight in the DC cosmos and at least one collector-significant key issue to her credit, Brainiac 8 is one of those fascinating Modern Age figures whose relatively rare appearances only make each one feel more worth tracking down.
