Bette Sans Souci
Bette Sans Souci is a DC Comics character who debuted in The Fury of Firestorm #7 (1982). Known by the villainous alias Plastique, she is a French-Canadian terrorist and explosives expert whose body was later altered to generate explosive blasts.
Bette Sans Souci burst onto the Bronze Age DC scene in 1982, courtesy of Gerry Conway and Pat Broderick in The Fury of Firestorm #7, and she's been a quietly compelling presence in the DC Universe ever since. With a history stretching across more than four decades and appearances spanning Suicide Squad and Justice League of America, she's the kind of character who gravitates toward the big leagues — sharing pages with the likes of Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern. Twenty-two catalog appearances may sound modest, but they include a collector-significant key issue, and any character who has endured from the Bronze Age into 2025 has clearly left a mark worth tracing.
