Archimede
Archimede is the Italian name for Gyro Gearloose, the eccentric inventor duck from Disney's comics universe who creates remarkable gadgets and contraptions, often assisting Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck with his ingenious (if unpredictable) mechanical solutions.
Stepping out of the sun-drenched pages of Mondadori's beloved Topolino in 1956, Archimede is a product of the Italian Golden Age of Disney comics β a tradition every bit as rich and inventive as its American counterpart. Brought to life by the legendary Romano Scarpa, one of the most celebrated European Disney creators of all time, this character carved out a place across three and a half decades of Italian comics culture, appearing in the hallowed pages of I Classici di Walt Disney and I grandi classici Disney alongside such iconic company as Paperino, Zio Paperone, and the irrepressible trio Qui, Quo, and Qua. With 16 catalog appearances spanning from 1956 to 1990, Archimede may not be the most prolific figure in the Mondadori Disney universe, but any character born from Scarpa's pen and woven into that golden era of Italian fumetti is well worth seeking out by the discerning collector.
