What Was Wolverine's First Appearance?

Wolverine made his very first appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 (November 1974), written by Len Wein with art by Herb Trimpe — though he got a tantalizing one-panel cameo in the previous issue, The Incredible Hulk #180, the same month. In #181, the Canadian government dispatches the clawed mutant weapon to take on the Hulk AND the Wendigo simultaneously, instantly establishing him as a ferocious, no-nonsense fighter. He then joined the all-new X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975), which launched him to superstardom. The rest, as they say, is Marvel history — Wolverine went on to become one of the most iconic mutants ever put to page.
